We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Buyer to manage the purchasing of materials and goods while building strong supplier relationships. This role is key to ensuring a seamless supply chain, negotiating contracts, and driving supplier performance—all while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Buyer
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring excellent communication and performance.
2. Monitor supplier performance, address issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
3. Ensure materials and goods meet specifications, quality, and delivery requirements.
4. Raise purchase orders, negotiate agreements, and onboard new suppliers as needed.
5. Collaborate with engineering, project, and stores teams to ensure stock levels are accurate and procurement aligns with business needs.
6. Track and report supplier metrics like SIFOT and address issues such as delays, quality failures, or damaged goods.
Personal Specification of a Buyer
1. Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or buying.
2. Experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering purchasing desirable but not essential.
3. Strong communication and relationship management skills.
4. Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
5. Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
