Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time (~80%) working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
Packages:
* Junior Engineer (E.g. New graduate with limited experience) - £37,860-£39,500
* Experienced Engineer - £42,000-£50,000
* Senior Engineer - £47,690-£70,000

Let us introduce the role
The Gas Transfer Systems (GTS) team within AWE are looking for an innovative, creative and highly motivated Mechanical Design and Test Engineer with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and the ability to manage and lead one's own work, presenting at formal reviews and stage-gates.
The successful applicant will contribute to the design, development, assembly and testing of gas storage and delivery systems for nuclear warheads. The role will support current and future programmes of work at AWE.
Responsibilities will include:
* Providing technical direction, leadership and undertaking process governance throughout the project lifecycle (PLM).
* Lead and deliver to the production and delivery of technical documents, reports, and presentations including specifications, design reviews, operational documents, and validation evidence for the engineering solutions.
* Championing development of current and new technologies or capabilities.
Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
* An HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Design).
* Significant experience within a mechanical engineering role (preferably a design position) with good knowledge of mechanical engineering theory and practice.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
* Working within a mechanical laboratory and an understanding of associated regulations; working within a high-pressure gas environment.
* Knowledge of pressure vessel design and industry design codes.
* Product testing and validation.
* Trials or research engineering.
* Design for manufacture.
* GD&T.
* Professional registration at IEng or CEng level or equivalent experience.
