The role
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Supervisor experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission overhead line works, substations, and/or underground cables, ensuring strict adherence to the highest health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, to join the Delivery team on the Spittal - Loch Buidhe 400kV OHL project.
You will
1. Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site as a key site-based point of contact, ensuring the suppliers carry out works in accordance with contractual requirements and SSEN policies and procedures. A key element of this will be measuring completed works against the works information for payment purposes and management of compensation events.
2. Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel, and industrial relations.
3. Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the Operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
4. Act as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture. Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and routine reports and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.
The Site Supervisor will be required to be onsite 5 days a week. Accommodation and subsistence costs provided.
You have
1. A working engineering and construction knowledge including the safety and CDM regulations.
2. Experience in site supervision or construction at duty holder level of similarly complex works in construction or utilities. Experience in construction access works would also be beneficial.
3. An understanding of project planning and in particular tracking progress against agreed plans along with working knowledge of quality requirements and experience in monitoring inspection and test plans.
4. Computer literately or familiarity with computer systems and ideally with the ability to use common software such as Microsoft Office packages.
5. Good written and oral communication skills, including the capability of representing the project internally and externally.
