Senior Clinical Emergency Nurse Practitioner
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Senior Clinical Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) within the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking to recruit one Senior ENP to lead our minor injuries service. The MIU is located at both the Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital within the Emergency Department where we see and treat over 70,000 patients per year.
This opportunity has opened for a dynamic, motivated and innovative Emergency Nurse Practitioner / Urgent Care Practitioner to join our team of highly skilled staff. This position would be suitable for those who wish to further their careers within a hospital environment where clinical roles are rapidly advancing to meet the challenges of the new NHS.
We are looking for an individual who can help to shape the service, driving standards and quality of care for our patients, with passion and pace through collaborative working. The successful candidate will be required to undertake quality improvement work as well as provide clinical leadership to trainee and junior members of the team.
These posts will offer the right candidate the exciting opportunity to extend their practice and deliver high quality care to service users attending the Minor Injuries Units. The candidate will autonomously assess, diagnose, treat, and discharge or refer patients according to their clinical condition.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be practising as an independent specialist clinical practitioner providing patient-centred and evidence-based clinical care, within an agreed scope of competence and practice. The jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluations of care and the setting of standards of care.
The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will support the effective use of resources and the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
The post holder will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to implement and improve the patient pathway and will be expected to develop new skills to further enhance the quality of the service delivered. Where appropriate, the role will include the day-to-day leadership and management.

Clinical
* Provide high quality care as an expert practitioner and act as a role model and resource for advice, support and guidance.
* Provide specialised advice contributing to the diagnosis and care of patients.
* Ensure the setting of and monitoring of standards as well as seeking continuous opportunity to improve standards and the quality of patient care.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and treatments using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.
* Make clinical assessments and treatment decisions within clearly defined policies and protocols.
* Organise own clinical workload.
* Supervise clinical staff to promote the delivery of excellent clinical standards.
* Act in accordance with the relevant professional body i.e. NMC.
* Ensure and promote the maintenance of a safe, clean, and secure working environment.
* Raise concerns regarding risk, danger, malpractice or wrongdoing by following the LTHT whistleblowing policy.
Education and Training
* Ensure all staff have an individual performance development plan.
* Participate in own and others appraisals.
* Ensure all nursing staff maintain mandatory training requirement.
* Promote a positive learning environment within the clinical area.
* Provide education and training to patients and their carers.
* Mentorship and supervision of junior staff.
Leadership
* Provide leadership to the clinical team and work with Matron to develop new roles/ways of working.
* Deliver a positive patient experience.
* Line manage the nursing team, including recruitment, performance management and workforce planning.
* Ensure the workload and performance monitoring data for the team is collected and utilised to ensure effective and efficient work.
