Job summary
The role of the Pharmaceutical Specialist Engineer is to support the Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit and RFL Head of Estates in ensuring Trust's Pharmacy critical utility systems and process equipment are in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and MHRA requirements. This will in turn ensure a well maintained safe and secure environment for our patients, staff and visitors.
Main duties of the job
* To carry out testing on critical utility systems and process equipment. Manage PPM, validation and calibration planning as well as regular compliance audits. This includes contracts and service delivery management.
* Audit of works pertaining to steriliser maintenance, ventilation systems, pressure systems, heating and cooling systems, hot and cold water services in line with GMP, MHRA Guidance and HTM/HBNs.
* To provide specialist advice based on knowledge and experience of mechanical and electrical building engineering services. Be able to complete and review risk assessments and method statements in relation to works on or affecting the delivery of services relevant to the manufacture, distribution and storage of pharmaceutical products.
* To oversee the installation, witnessing, commissioning and handover of engineering systems as appropriate.
* To chair meetings with contractors and to monitor the performance and compliance of contracts with specialist providers.
* To liaise with key stakeholders on a day-to-day basis on matters pertaining to pharmacy engineering systems.
* Preparation and collation of tender documents and specifications.
* To attend any equipment acceptance testing visits. This may include visits to sites outside of the UK.
* Preparing status reports on all matters relating to pharmacy engineering services.
* To carry out testing and maintenance, fault-finding on engineering systems.
* Input to capital projects.
* Attendance and input to compliance groups.
