The Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) role is a pivotal position within the maternity services department. The PMA is responsible for deploying the A-EQUIP (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement) model to support midwives. This model focuses on continuous improvement, building personal and professional resilience, and enhancing the quality of care for women. The PMA collaborates with various teams, including quality & safety, governance, and practice development, to provide professional advice and support quality improvement initiatives.

As a Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA), the candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of maternity care.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provide support to midwives using the A-EQUIP model, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional resilience.
2. Promote and facilitate regular restorative clinical supervision sessions, ensuring midwives have the opportunity to reflect on their practice and maintain their well-being.
3. Collaborate with local quality and safety, governance, and practice development teams to support and implement quality improvement initiatives.
4. Lead and coordinate the PMA team, ensuring they effectively fulfill their duties and contribute to high-quality, evidence-based maternity care.
5. Mentor and inspire midwives, sharing best practices and supporting their professional growth and development.
6. Network with PMAs across the region and beyond, sharing knowledge and strategies to enhance maternity services.
7. Advocate for women and their families, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met within the maternity care framework.

Qualifications
* NMC Registered Midwife.
* Degree or equivalent qualification/experience.

Skills and Abilities
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
* Experience of facilitating clinical restorative supervision sessions.
* Ability to influence and facilitate change.
* Able to organise and facilitate meetings.
* Experience of leading a team of PMAs.
