CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Sessional Lecturer Vacancies
The following Sessional Lecturer positions are available in the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies for the Summer 2025 academic session. This posting is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 (Unit 3). Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III.
All pool members who wish to be considered for a particular position must submit an application, an updated curriculum vitae, cover letter and a 1-2 page course description and proposal, outlining key aspects of the course and names and contact information for 2 referees.

Salary: in accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be:
1. Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90
2. Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $9,930.79
3. Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
4. Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10,326.62
5. Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
6. Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term: $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Sessional Dates (excluding Exam period):
1. Y Courses: May 2 - August 7
2. F Courses: May 1 - June 16
3. S Courses: June 23 – August 7
Lecture Schedule:
Monday 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Wednesday 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Appointment Date: June 23 - August 7, 2025 (excluding final exam period). Final exam can be scheduled anytime between August 11 - August 23.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong academic record and professional promise; ongoing research and publication. Teaching ability at the university level, currency and mastery of the subject matter, past relevant teaching experience and previous experience teaching this course is strongly preferred.
Duties: All usual duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; course syllabus development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and timely submission of grades; timely submission of a deferred exam; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable.
TA Support: Teaching Assistant support will be provided if the enrolment reaches 45 students or higher.
