Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As an Apprentice Digital Design, you’ll learn how:
* To create CAD drawings and Models across a range of water, wastewater, bio-resources and network projects.
* The project lifecycle works.
* The United Utilities CAD standards and procedures are used to effectively deliver drawings on time and to the correct standard.
* Different CAD programs, developing technical knowledge are relevant to the software.
* To work closely with people in the CAD Team and further engineering disciplines to gain knowledge specific to the water industry.

* Comply with engineering standards and regulations. For example, British Standards (BS), International Organisation for Standardisation standards (ISO). European Norm (EN).
* Analyse engineering and manufacturing data and information to support technical outputs. For example, read and interpret text, data, engineering drawings, work instructions, method statements, operation manuals.
* Apply scientific, technical or engineering principles.
* Apply problem solving techniques to solutions for identified technical problems.
* Organise, plan and prioritise workflow and scheduling of work with stakeholders.
* Identify, organise and use resources to complete tasks, considering cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact.
* Produce job specific technical outputs. For example, engineering drawings, quality control management, computer control programming, business improvement, adverse incident reports, technical investigations, equipment appraisals and specifications.

Your training plan
Your apprenticeship will last 48 months, and successful apprentices will achieve an Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician, Level 3 standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships.
During your apprenticeship, you may need to travel to your place of study. If you’re from outside the area, accommodation will be provided by United Utilities during this period (excluding weekends). Please consider travel requirements and staying away from home if applicable.
