Your New Role
As the Executive Director of Human Resources, you will provide strategic and professional leadership in all HR processes and procedures. This includes recruitment, retention, succession planning, employee relations, policy development, organisational change, performance management, and continuous professional development (CPD). You will work closely with the CEO and other executive directors to ensure the HR strategy aligns with the overall mission and goals of the organisation.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy and workforce plan.
2. Manage all HR processes, including recruitment, selection, retention, induction, compliance, and policy development.
3. Ensure compliance with Safer Recruitment practices and maintain an accurate Single Central Register.
4. Provide legal advice on employment regulations and HR processes to the CEO, directors, and headteachers.
5. Oversee performance management processes and support line managers in leadership responsibilities.
6. Lead and manage the HR team, ensuring high-quality service provision and value for money.
7. Coordinate and maintain a dashboard for performance management across the organisation.
8. Promote colleague wellbeing and support the DfE charter.
9. Liaise with local, regional, and national professional bodies and support the CEO and headteachers in working with the Joint Consultative Committee.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
1. CIPD qualification or relevant experience.
2. Proven experience in HR leadership, preferably within the education sector.
3. Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and procedures.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate well to people at all levels.
5. High level of organisational skills and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
6. Experience in managing employee relations casework, including dismissals.
7. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
8. Strong IT skills and experience with HR systems.
