Job overview
To provide an efficient and effective patient administration service to support the Trust’s ambition to deliver high quality well-coordinated care for patients and service users and to support consultants and clinical teams to function effectively. This includes:
1. Actively managing and standardising administrative processes associated with patient pathways in line with national policy guidance and organisational standard operating procedures to ensure effective patient access and waiting list management for the clinical group.
Main duties of the job
1. Effectively tracking and monitoring patients' progress through the 18-week pathway to ensure good clinical outcomes and a positive patient/parent experience. Escalating and resolving blocks in patient flow and capacity issues with the potential to cause delay to the Service manager and Directorate team as appropriate.
2. Providing full line management to our secretarial and admin teams.
3. Ensuring all clinic capacity is utilised effectively and that clinics conform to the agreed templates.
4. Liaising with medical secretaries and outpatient areas (cross-site) to ensure the effective flow of patients and escalating blocks in flow and capacity issues to service managers and escalate any need for patients to be brought back on track ensuring that clear timelines and actions are agreed and actioned.
5. Producing an account of trends in flow blockages and reasons for potential breaches in the inpatient and outpatient pathways to the service manager as appropriate.

Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above
* NVQ4 in a relevant subject to the role i.e., Business Administration or Leadership and Management or willingness to work towards
* Excellent IT skills to include complex databases.
* Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
* AMPSAR qualification or evidence of extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
* RSA Typing Level 2
Experience
* Specialist knowledge of waiting list or 18-week Pathway management systems
* Knowledge of PAS systems and other relevant databases
* Substantial experience within the NHS.
* Cancer Services knowledge and/or experience
* Experience in a management or supervisory role
* Previous experience of managing and changing service
