Job Overview
As an apprentice IT & GDPR Assistant, you will report directly to the IT & GDPR Officer and assist her in providing professional advice and guidance to all employees, colleagues, clergy, and volunteers within the diocese. You will apply guidance and provide advice, as directed, on a wide range of IT & GDPR queries and issues. You will also generally provide support to the work of diocesan departments within the Curia (central office) in their support of parishes, and coordinate support of IT & GDPR processes.
This role would ideally suit someone with an interest in IT, GDPR, and Cybersecurity who is looking to learn more about this aspect of business administration, progress in their career, and broaden their knowledge and skills. You will be proactive, patient, and able to communicate with people, often with little IT knowledge, across a diverse age range.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT solutions & Support: Create Microsoft 365 accounts and SharePoint sites; assist users with account set-up and third-party systems and software configurations; provide basic first-line IT support to users via telephone, email, and videocall; escalate complex issues to the IT outsourcing service; maintain databases; keep accurate records of customer interactions and technical issues.
2. GDPR Support: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of GDPR compliance policies, procedures, and measures; ensure data protection policies are followed; assist with GDPR enquiries and requests; maintain records; provide support in data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments; stay up to date with changes to data protection laws and regulations.
3. Learning & Development: Assist in the development and delivery of GDPR training programs for staff; support training programs, workshops, and seminars; continuously learn the latest Cybersecurity, IT & GDPR best practices to improve workplace efficiency.
4. General Administration: Support the IT & GDPR Officer with special projects as required; visit parishes to deliver training to clergy & volunteers; order stationary and other consumables; prepare and draft monthly reports for the IT & GDPR Officer; ensure all information is stored correctly and in accordance with GDPR regulations, the Data Protection Act, and cybersecurity.

Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, including any required Functional Skills level 1 / 2.
You are required to come into the City Hub campus 1x Monday a month to join the other apprentices. You will be set work in this class to do over the month which will be marked and feedback given. You will have one-to-ones every 4-6 weeks via Teams and set tasks with the employer on teams or face-to-face review. Meetings will take place with the assessor and the employer every 12 weeks, this is also either face-to-face or via Teams.
Potential to progress to a higher level qualification.
