As a studio assistant you will have the exciting opportunity to be involved in preparing projects for our Sew Ready Camps and after school clubs. At Sew Ready, we teach children valuable skills in hand sewing and machine sewing in a playful manner so as they find true joy in the art of making. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about empowering young minds, fostering creativity, and making a positive impact on children's lives. Volunteers will work closely with staff to design and mock-up engaging sewing projects suitable for various age groups and skill levels, ensuring all pupils have a fun and educational experience. Responsibilities:- Preparing both hand sewing and machine sewing projects for classes.* This will involve cutting fabrics for each project and preparing all items needed for each participant, including any necessary notions and threading needles.* Ensuring all sewing machines are correctly threaded & bobbins filled.- Making up samples of each project, involving both hand and machine sewing. 3. Demonstrate safety practices and proper handling of sewing tools and equipment.4. Maintain a clean and organised sewing area, ensuring the safety of all staff and volunteers.5. Communicate effectively with staff, regarding progress and any concerns.Qualifications:1. Proficiency in both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques is preferred, but not required. We are happy to teach you the skills. 2. Experience working with children in a teaching or mentoring capacity is preferred but not required.3. Patience, enthusiasm and a passion for sharing knowledge and skills with others.4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.6.
