Packaging Solutions (GAIA) is one of the UK’s leading specialists in box protection, providing innovative packaging solutions to B2B companies and distributor networks across multiple industries. GAIA has experienced continued pre and post Covid growth and are now looking to capitalise. We aim to take our success to the next level by increasing market penetration across the UK.
As part of this growth, we are seeking a dynamic and versatile Sales and Marketing Coordinator to join our team on a six-month contract, with the potential for a permanent role. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to make an impact within a growing business.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional with experience in sales and marketing, ideally within the packaging sector. You will play a key role in driving new business development, managing small accounts, supporting marketing initiatives, assisting with recruitment, and ensuring compliance with industry legislation.
Success in this role will require strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identifying and capitalising on new opportunities.
Role & Responsibilities
Sales and small account management
* Coordinate outbound sales activities, working closely with the telesales team to generate and qualify leads.
* Conduct discovery calls to assess customer packaging needs, arrange product samples, and set sales meetings.
* Research and compile prospect lists through market mapping and data sourcing.
* Define and refine sales messaging and product positioning in collaboration with the sales team.
* Manage and update the prospect database, maintaining accurate records and follow-ups.
* Proactively engage with small existing accounts and prospects to foster relationships and drive upsells.
Marketing
* Contribute ideas and work with the team to develop a structured marketing plan aimed at generating warm leads.
* Manage and grow GAIA's social media presence, with a primary focus on LinkedIn.
* Create and publish engaging organic content aligned with brand messaging.
* Collaborate on website development, improving user experience (UX), building landing pages, creating blog content, and enhancing search engine performance (SEO).
* Monitor and analyse marketing performance metrics to refine strategies.
Product Sourcing
* Research and source new packaging products and consumables.
* Stay up-to-date with packaging innovation.
* Support the business in transitioning to more sustainable packaging solutions.
* Conduct cost analysis for new product lines to ensure competitive pricing.
* Liaise with suppliers and coordinate site visits when necessary.
Recruitment
* Work with the Managing Director to identify hiring needs and manage the recruitment process.
* Establish and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies as needed.
* Screen and present shortlisted candidates to the Managing Director for interviews.
* Create and manage job postings to attract top talent.
Compliance & Legislation
* Stay informed on the latest UK government regulations impacting the packaging industry.
* Develop expertise in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and serve as the company’s subject matter expert.
* Prepare reports, presentations, and internal updates on relevant legislative changes.
* Leverage regulatory insights to support marketing and sales initiatives.
* Act as the primary contact for compliance providers and ensure adherence to industry standards.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in sales, marketing, or business development.
* Strong communication and phone skills; confident in outbound outreach.
* Degree educated.
* Adaptable and comfortable handling diverse responsibilities.
* Eager to learn and develop expertise in new areas.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Graphic design experience, with the ability to create visually appealing content.
* Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
* Right to work in the UK
Preferred
* Previous experience in B2B distribution, ideally within the packaging sector.
* Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & Illustrator) is a plus.
* Knowledge of SEO, digital marketing, and LinkedIn as a lead generation tool.
* Degree educated in business related field.
