We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the primary care service.
Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, with shifts falling between the following times:
07:30-19:30 Monday to Thursday
07:30-18:00 Friday
08:00-17:30 Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holidays
The team usually work 3 or 4 long shifts across 7 days.
Salary:
This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of between £24,669 - £28,690 - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
* Working within the primary care team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates across the service
* Assist with clinical observations, vaccination clinics etc.
* Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
* Deliver personalised, non-judgemental care, based on patient feedback
* Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
* Support the nursing and pharmacy teams onsite
* Support the mental health and substance misuse teams as necessary
* Assist with release and discharge when needed
What we'll look for in you
We are looking for caring, compassionate but also driven professionals who can help us drive our vision for a fair and inclusive healthcare access to all. Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
* Hold a NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent - a Level 3 would be a bonus!
* Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
* Have clinical knowledge ideally, as well as experience of group work and health promotion
* Have a caring and compassionate approach
* Ideally have experience within primary care
