The Systems Engineer will work as part of the Infrastructure Team to implement change throughout the Group. They will build, maintain, and secure Group IT systems whilst providing their expertise to the Service Desk. Locations for this role in order of preference are Inverness, Aberdeen and Grangemouth.
Key Accountabilities
1. Work closely with other Infrastructure staff to facilitate knowledge share.
2. Work closely with the Service Desk to ensure the customer needs are met.
3. Support the delivery of the infrastructure strategic roadmap.
4. Support major incidents as a priority, alongside strategic projects.
5. Provide Escalation support to the Service Desk as part of a rota.
6. Ensure that all work is captured and logged using the appropriate ticketing system.
7. If required, escalate requests to the Infrastructure Manager for resolution.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
1. Office 365 Administration and related PowerShell.
2. Working with Microsoft AD Domains and Group Policy.
3. Managing and monitoring a variety of Infrastructure systems.
4. Deploying Cyber Essentials related tasks.
5. Knowledge of IT Security best practices.
6. Microsoft certifications are beneficial.
7. Valid Driver’s license.
Skills
1. Ability to run and manage individual projects.
2. Ability to learn new applications and systems.
3. A deep knowledge of Microsoft Systems, ensuring you can support Service Desk escalation.
4. Effectively manage time while working on multiple assignments, with guidance as to relative priorities of assignments.
5. Ability to handle confidential information and materials with discretion and integrity.
6. Ability to handle interruptions and shifting priorities, maintain focus on tasks, pay attention to details, and produce accurate work.
7. Hunger to continually learn new technologies to progress and achieve the best results.
8. A critical and methodical thinker/problem solver who can work under pressure, assess enquiries, and exercise sound judgement.
