Job Title: Principal Engineer (C&I)

What's the Job About?
The main purpose of the role is the execution and co-ordination of engineering projects associated with onshore fuel pipelines and associated facilities.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Communication
o Maintain direct contact with Clients and key stakeholders regarding project issues.
o Co-ordination of discipline engineers, CAD Operators, Field Engineers, Contractors and Suppliers.
o Reporting and discussion of project issues with the Project Manager.
2. Planning and Project Management
o Provide project control from initial approval through to commissioning and handover (typical portfolio size £3mill per annum).
o Ensure agreed man-hour and cost targets are adhered to.
o Prepare project plans and programmes.
o Ensure work is carried out in accordance with BPA procedures to client satisfaction.
o Ensure work is carried out in accordance with National and BPA HSSEQ standards.
3. Design
o Identify and manage design risks.
o Apply professional engineering discipline, judgement and constructive thinking to the selection of design solutions.
o Provide appropriate engineering designs in accordance with relevant company, client, national and international standards.
o Develop design and construction drawings.
o Conduct design reviews with project stakeholders.
4. Procurement
o Prepare contract documentation for procurement of services and materials.
o Evaluate tenders and provide recommendations for contract award.
o Authorise invoices and monitor project spend.
5. Construction / Commissioning
o Manage on site construction contracts.
o Liaise with onsite staff to ensure health and safety targets are achieved.
o Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans.
6. General
o Maintain good client relationships.
o Adapt to changing priorities presented by client requirements.
o Ensure good engineering practices are maintained.
o Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
o Operate to expected quality standards.
What You’ll Need:
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Member / chartered with a relevant professional institution (IMechE etc).
* Demonstrable knowledge (in specified discipline) of design and project engineering of facilities associated with oil and gas pipelines and terminals.
* Minimum of five years in the oil and gas or associated industries.
* Computer literate in normal office software applications and specialist applications as necessary.
* Valid UK driving licence.

* Basic Salary: £55,000 - £60,000, depending on skills and experience.
