We are looking for a Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish & French). This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Barnwood Park School and become an integral member of the team.
Barnwood Park is a 11 – 16 school based in the centre of Gloucester. It has been on a rapid school improvement journey since June 2024 when Greenshaw Learning Trust began offering support and guidance. It officially joined Greenshaw Learning Trust on 1st January 2025. The school is made up of extremely committed, passionate staff who are determined for the school to be the best it possibly can be. A big focus on teamwork, clear, considered actions and strategies, improved organisation, and ensuring excellent CPD has meant that the school has had an excellent start to its improvement journey. The school offers a range of subjects including CORE subjects, humanities, and languages, with a significant focus on creative arts, performing arts, and sport. Main Responsibilities:
1. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
2. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher/Tutor.
3. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
4. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
5. To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
6. To undertake a designated programme of teaching across all key stages.
7. To teach consistently high-quality lessons.
8. To plan and deliver schemes of work and lessons that meet the requirements of KS3 and KS4.
9. To be a role model for students, inspiring them to be actively interested in your subject.
10. To maintain appropriate records and provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for Bromcom, registers.
11. To complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students.
12. To set expectations for staff and students in relation to standards of achievement and the quality of learning & teaching.
13. To prioritise and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role.
14. To follow the school policies and procedures.
15. To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support.
16. To maintain discipline in accordance with school procedures, encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
17. To update professional knowledge and expertise to keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology.
18. To lead, monitor, and evaluate the assessment and feedback to students in line with whole school and department policy.
19. To follow department monitoring and tracking systems relating to students.
