The Control Room Assistant works in the Multi Agency Communications Centre (MACC) and captures incidents and events in the daily event log, as well as assisting the MACC Manager in the efficient running of the MACC and A-MACC (Alternative Multi Agency Communications Centre).
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a world-class event, rooted in Scottish tradition, offering audiences an experience like no other. Duration:
This is a temporary position from 3 – 13 July and 30 July – 23 August 2025. Your normal working week is a minimum of 30 hours on a rota basis between 15:30-00:30 Monday to Friday and 14:00-00:30 on Saturdays.
Job Purpose Summary:
The Control Room Assistant works in the Multi Agency Communications Centre (MACC) and captures incidents and events in the daily event log, as well as assisting the MACC Manager in the efficient running of the MACC and A-MACC (Alternative Multi Agency Communications Centre).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain the Daily Event Log.
* Assist the MACC Manager in the setup and running of the MACC and Alternative MACC.
* Coordinate the management and archive of event records in addition to the upkeep and maintenance of Control Room equipment.
* Create prepared folders and index for use by the MACC team.
* Liaise with the Safety Officer regarding incident reporting, keeping them informed of the latest developments.
* Maintain an up-to-date incident/hazard resolution spreadsheet.
* Facilitate the effective and professional running of the Control Room.
* Be familiar with the event plan and support Event Management in the delivery of the event.
* Be familiar with plans directing the safe evacuation of the audience and be prepared to support the coordination of responses to incidents and emergencies.
* Support the Safety Officer in the preparation of daily safety briefings.
* Support with data collection and analysis.
* Typing ability of 65wpm.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to multitask.
* High computer literacy in all Microsoft packages.
* Organised and able to work under pressure.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Experience of dictation typing.
* Experience of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
* Experience of working within a Control Room/Control Centre.
* Stewarding experience.
