Customer Ledger Clerk Do you know what it's like to work in a finance team where nobody leaves? You could soon find out. This isn't just another ledger job; it's a chance to join a quietly booming, recession-resistant industry at a company that's grown x30 in the past ten years under the same Finance Director. And they're not slowing down - on track for a further 20% growth this year. What's the secret? A Finance Director who cares and invests in people. I recruited people for newly created roles within the team for the past 5 years - no one's wanted to leave, and some have been promoted It's growth without the chaos: the company expands sustainably, and you grow with it. What You'll Be Doing You'll be the Customer Ledger Clerk, which means you're the go-to person for keeping the cash flowing in. In plain English, you manage the sales ledger and ensure customers pay on time. Invoice & Ledger Management: Set up new customer accounts and raise invoices accurately and on time (you're the type who doesn't miss a detail). Cash Tracking: Post incoming payments thus keeping the cash flow schedule up-to-date (when money comes in, you'll be the first to know). Relationship Building: Build friendly relationships with customer contacts. When an invoice is due (or overdue), a polite nudge from you gets results because they know and trust you. Problem Solving: Jump on any invoice queries or payment disputes and sort them out quickly - you're essentially the detective who ensures nothing holds up payment. Teamwork: Work closely with project managers and the rest of finance to bill projects correctly and hit monthly close deadlines. In short, you own the customer ledger. You'll be chasing payments sometimes, yes - but in this company, it's more about maintaining good relationships than banging on tables. The clients are established, and so is our process, so you're there to keep things smooth and surprise-free. What You'll Need Experience in Finance: You've previously worked in a finance/accounts team, handling sales ledgers or credit control. Eye for Detail: Whether it's ensuring an invoice matches a PO or catching a misposted payment, you're the one who spots it. Tools of the Trade: Familiarity with accounting software (Sage would be great. If not, you can learn). And you're comfortable with Excel for tracking and reconciliation. Maybe you're already an established ledger clerk or studying AAT and want real experience to grow your career. Either way works. People Skills: You're not hiding behind emails 24/7. You can pick up the phone to a customer or have a chat with a project manager. Basically, you communicate - you listen, you explain, and you can build rapport. Calm & Organised: Month-end and invoice deadlines come around quick. You can handle a bit of pressure without melting down - methodical when things get busy, and self-motivated enough to handle your ledger without someone micro-managing you. What You'll Get (The Rewards) Salary: £27,500 - £32,500 (depending on experience) Bonus: Yes, there's a performance bonus on top. The company's doing well, and they share that success. Study Support: If you're pursuing a relevant qualification (eg AAT). Hybrid Working: Flexibility is real here. One day a week in the office ; you can work from home for the rest. The team all comes in together, usually on Wednesday, to catch up, collaborate, and, yes, enjoy each other's company. Great Team & Boss: A supportive team that actually likes working together. Stability and Growth: This industry is as recession-proof as it gets. So, while others might worry about the next economic dip, you'll be in a steadily expanding company. Job security, check. Future prospects, check. Office based in a convenient location in Corsham, Wiltshire (commutable from places like Bath, Chippenham, and Swindon) with free parking on the days you're in.
