An exciting and rewarding opportunity for a part-time Assistant Psychology role. The M3 programme is an NIHR-funded programme aiming to develop and test a multi-factorial intervention in adults with early-onset type 2 diabetes (aged 16-40 years). The successful applicant will be based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve working closely with Clinical and Chartered Psychologists to contribute to the delivery of psychology alongside a full MDT. This role will be part of the delivery of a holistic and person-centered intervention, part of a wider research programme, the M3 programme.
Job responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Assistant Psychologist are varied, but will focus on assisting with the provision of tailored psychological care to young adults (16-45 years) living with type 2 diabetes and multiple long-term conditions (individual intervention). Other responsibilities may include attending MDT meetings, clinical audit, and research-related tasks such as assisting with grant writing and dissemination.
Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
* An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology
Experience
* Experience working with people with chronic health conditions
* Experience of therapeutic work in a relevant area to the post
Communication and relationship skills
* High level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to support individuals who may be experiencing significant distress
Analytical and Judgement skills
* Proven ability to undertake duties in a confidential and sensitive manner using tact and diplomacy where necessary
Skills
* Flexibility
* High level of personal and professional credibility
* Ability to work independently or as part of team
* Good IT skills, including ability to use clinical systems (such as SystmOne) and Microsoft Office
