Job Overview:
Currently have a school in Croydon that are looking for dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisors to join our supportive team. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students in the absence of their regular class teacher, ensuring that lessons are carried out effectively and that students maintain a positive and productive learning environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are looking to support the educational development of students while gaining valuable classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise students in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring they stay on task and engage with pre-set lesson plans and materials.
2. Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom, promoting positive behavior and ensuring a safe learning environment.
3. Provide feedback to students on their work and offer assistance where appropriate.
4. Assist with administrative tasks such as distributing learning resources or marking simple work.
5. Liaise with teaching staff, including relaying any key issues or concerns related to student behavior or progress.
6. Follow the school's behavior management policies and work with students to resolve any conflicts or disruptions.
7. Support students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) as necessary.
8. Ensure that students are fully engaged in learning activities and that they make the most of their lesson time.
9. Assist in the development of classroom resources and support a variety of subjects as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. A good standard of education, including GCSEs or equivalent (preferably including English and Maths).
2. Experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting (though training and support will be provided for those with limited experience).
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a focused and respectful learning environment.
5. Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subject areas.
6. A proactive and positive attitude with a strong desire to help students succeed.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience working in schools or with children.
2. A background in education or a teaching-related qualification (e.g., TA qualification, degree, or related subject).
3. An interest in pursuing a career in education.
