Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for two Project Engineers, to join our team based at our Nestlé UK&I, Tutbury Factory.
The Project Engineer will manage the design, installation, and commissioning of capital investment projects on site and support the start-up lead with the start-up phase of the project, within the defined scope of responsibility or specialization. Ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications, Nestlé standards & international standards are implemented and adhered to.
A day in the life of a Project Engineer
A day in the life of a Project Engineer is dynamic depending on the status of the project.
At the concept stage, you will be engaging with stakeholders, suppliers, and technical support to agree on a design that satisfies the technical, quality, and safety standards of the business. You will prepare business case studies to present to the business for CAPEX funding.
At the installation stage, you will be coordinating the daily and upcoming activities. Managing contractors and suppliers, you will be permitting work daily, visiting the site, and ensuring site safety and installation quality, while communicating back to stakeholders on progress, budget, and timelines.
What will make you successful
To be successful in this role, we expect you to ideally have experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment. Having experience managing Capex projects is also essential for this role.
The ideal candidate will also have experience ensuring that the engineering side of projects has been implemented (e.g., buildings, equipment installations, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost, and quality, the URS, and the characteristics of a unit operation.
Other key attributes we are looking for are:
1. Ideally degree educated in a mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering field and/or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
2. Technical knowledge and practical experience of working within Health & Safety legislation (PUWER, CDM, etc.)
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with others (e.g., Safety Health & Environment, Production, Maintenance, QA, Contractors, etc.).
4. Leadership skills, ability to lead meetings, and delegate tasks to other members of the project team. A self-starter with the initiative to research topics and work out solutions with minimal supervision.
5. Financial management skills: reviewing, controlling, and forecasting spending, and working closely with the purchasing department to tender for and purchase new equipment.
6. Commitment to a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, safety, compliance, and quality. Work to a high standard with a strong attention to detail.
