Responsibilities
* Oversee daily fleet operations on-site, coordinating with all departments to meet their needs and ensure uninterrupted production.
* Develop, manage and implement processes to maintain the smooth and safe operation of vehicles on-site, ensuring vehicles comply with environmental regulations and health and safety standards.
* Assess, recommend, and justify new equipment purchases to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
* Monitor fleet expenditure and make decisions based on long-term financial projections, ensuring optimal fleet utilization whilst presenting cost-saving strategies.
* Analyze fuel and fleet usage and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize performance.
* Collaborate closely with the maintenance team to schedule, resolve, and react to any issues that arise, ensuring minimal downtime and continuous operation to maximize productivity.
* Support the Transport Manager and Transport function at SPU with the daily collection of information and realignment of the site transport plan when required.
Your Magic Skills
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Material planning/production planning or logistics coordination background would be ideal for this role.
* Ability to communicate effectively between different departments.
* Background in engineering, manufacturing, or construction.
* Self-starter – someone who can proactively seek out information.
* Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
* A keen interest in learning site operations to understand departmental needs.
* Safety and quality-driven mindset.
* IPAF desirable but not essential.
* IOSH desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of industrial vehicles and relevant legislation would be preferable.
* Degree level qualification highly desirable but not essential.
