The role of the Buyer will support the creation of the integrated commodity / category strategy(s) and will support the execution the associated strategic sourcing and commercial activities. You will be responsible for the in-contract management of your designated suppliers, providing continuity of supply and required levels of technology, quality, cost and delivery performance. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all sourcing activities are in line with the defined purchasing processes, which will include the raising and management of all purchase documentation within the appropriate system.

What you will be doing:
With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:
1. Supplier Relationships - Where designated, responsible for the effective day to day management of partners and suppliers.
2. Cost Management - Work with suppliers to identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities in line with agreed contracts with deployment of relevant cost models.
3. Strategic Sourcing - Where designated, will support the execution of sourcing and commercial activities to maximise the value proposition across designated commodities / categories. Will be able to gain a fact-based understanding of current supply base, supplier economics and major trends in relevant markets.
4. Strategy - Support the development and deployment of relevant integrated commodity / category / supplier strategies, providing a clear vision and strategic framework for the designated supply chain(s). Work collaboratively, as part of a highly skilled cross functional teams to ensure that strategies meet the needs of current and future manufacturing programmes.
5. Quality & Delivery - Where designated, select a supply chain capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements and ensuring the management and rectification of quality and delivery issues
6. Processes and Procedures - Accountable for compliance to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all purchasing records and documentations are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements
7. Resource Management - You will support the embedding and the sustainment of a high performance culture within your teams(s).
8. Programme management - You will have good planning and project management skills that are able to develop comprehensive workable solutions in complex situations and will support the deployment of risk management practices to assess, communicate and mitigate supply chain risks.
9. Stakeholder Management - Nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the function in order to support functional priorities.
10. Supplier Code of Conduct - Responsible for understanding supplier obligations contained in the Global Supplier Code of Conduct and addressing any supplier compliance concerns through direct action or escalation. Responsible for ensuring that supplier compliance to the Global Supplier Code of Conduct is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
11. BA degree or equivalent or significant industry experience.
12. Ideally MCIPs qualified or equivalent
13. Has a proven track record of delivering results
14. Good planning / project management skills
15. Strong commercial acumen
16. Familiarity with purchasing and supply chain management preferred

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
