The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout the production process, working closely with both suppliers and customers to resolve technical and quality issues. In this role, you will conduct audits, lead problem-solving initiatives, and oversee product approvals, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The position requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to ensure product quality meets customer and regulatory requirements. Utilise 8D problem-solving techniques to address quality-related issues, leading cross-functional teams in identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and verifying effectiveness.
* Engineering Drawings: Review and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T, to ensure components meet required specifications and tolerances. Collaborate with the engineering team to resolve any design-related quality concerns.
* New Product Introduction (NPI): Support the NPI process by establishing quality requirements for new products, collaborating with production and engineering teams to ensure smooth integration of new products into manufacturing.
* Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor, analyse, and report on quality KPIs to track progress and drive continuous improvement. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and executing initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
* Supplier and Customer Collaboration: Act as a primary contact for suppliers and customers regarding technical and quality-related concerns. Coordinate with suppliers on quality standards and assist in resolving any issues that arise.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
* Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T.
* Familiarity with 8D problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
* Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE), Six Sigma, or similar.
* Proficiency with quality management software.
* Experience with project management and process improvement tools
