Teaching and Learning and Progress Lead - Explore
The Governors of Newport High School are looking to appoint a permanent teacher of Humanities with a TLR2b (£5,915) for Teaching, Learning and Progress Lead within our Explore Area of Learning. This is an important middle leadership opportunity for an ambitious and experienced teacher who wishes to progress their career.
At Newport High School, we have six Areas of Learning – Create, Connect, Discover, Explore, Reason, and Thrive. This vacancy is to be one of two Teaching, Learning and Progress Leads within Explore, which includes Humanities and ICT.
Each Area of Learning is led by an Area Lead, supported by Teaching, Learning and Progress Leads. Their role is specifically to improve the quality of teaching and progress across their Area of Learning. We are looking for an outstanding teacher with experience in improving the quality of teaching in a specific area.
We are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate, and highly motivated teacher who can teach across Humanities. A good understanding of teaching Geography at GCSE and knowledge and experience of Equality and Diversity would also be an advantage.
Our ideal candidate will have a passion for their subject(s) and will be able to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities. They will have a proven track record in improving teaching and learning and experience in raising standards in the classroom. They will have been responsible for delivering excellent outcomes at KS4.
As this is a middle leadership role, specifically to raise standards of teaching, learning, and progress across the Area of Learning, we are looking to appoint someone who can lead and manage staff and is passionate about the New Curriculum and the opportunities this allows students to develop their knowledge and skills. This could be an existing TLR holder in a similar role or an experienced Humanities teacher looking for their first Middle Leadership position.
We hope you are interested in this exciting role and look forward to receiving your application. If you would like to speak to us for any more information, please contact Claire Reilly, Headteacher's PA.
Job Purpose:
1. To teach students within the school and be an outstanding classroom practitioner.
2. To raise standards of student attainment and achievement and monitor and support student progress.
3. To carry out such other associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.
Newport High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.
