Job Summary
The PwC Channel Islands Advisory Line of Service includes a market-leading and award-winning Sustainability and Economics practice. This team provides services both to the local market and as a centre of expertise for the PwC network across three pillars; Sustainability reporting, Strategy and financing for the net zero transition, and Economics & impact. You can find out more about what we do. Our Sustainability and Economics practice is led by a senior team of expert practitioners at Director and Senior Manager levels. These individuals are responsible for delivering high profile and highly innovative client projects and supporting the wider reputation of the firm.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Economics Senior Manager to join our dynamic Sustainability and Economics practice in the Channel Islands, with a primary focus on the Economics & impact pillar, at least initially. As an integral member of our growing economics-focussed consultancy work, you will provide leadership in delivering economic analysis, strategy, and evaluation services, and helping to shape the future growth of our services in this area. You will also play a key role in supporting our firm-wide Chief Economist function by delivering economic thought leadership and insights that shape our sustainability and impact agenda locally and as part of our role in the Global Economics Network.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of economics-focused engagements and contribute to the leadership of our Economics and Sustainability & Impact offerings. You will work with Directors and Partners, overseeing various client engagements, as well as contributing to thought leadership. You will interact regularly with clients, build and strengthen business relationships, and play a key role in growing our practice, while also supporting the professional development of junior team members.
Being part of a smaller, agile Channel Islands department, you will also have opportunities to shape strategic initiatives, influence practice management decisions, and support the running of the business. Over time, you will become a trusted senior advisor, driving project strategy for multiple, complex projects and contributing to other key initiatives of the firm.
You will manage and mentor a team of consultants, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and contribute to business growth and practice development in line with our priority Economics & Impact offerings:
1. Economic Analysis: Assessing the socio-economic impacts of projects, policies, programmes, portfolios, or organisations, using a range of robust, government-sanctioned techniques.
2. Policy & Strategy: Integrating economic, social, and environmental considerations into business operations, decision-making processes, and stakeholder engagement.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation: Designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation activities to measure performance, outcomes, and impacts beyond financial indicators at project, organisational, portfolio or jurisdictional levels.

Responsibilities include:
Engagement leadership
1. Lead multiple, complex client engagements focusing on economic analysis, sustainability, and impact assessments
2. Oversee project scoping, budgeting, resource allocation, and delivery of high-quality client deliverables
3. Manage client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and identifying opportunities for future collaboration
Strategic Advisory & Thought Leadership
4. Provide strategic economic insights to senior client stakeholders, guiding their decision-making on sustainability and impact matters
5. Drive thought leadership initiatives through publications, presentations, conferences and collaboration with PwC’s Chief Economist function
6. Stay at the forefront of emerging economic, sustainability, and impact trends, shaping PwC’s market offerings
Economic Analysis & Impact Assessment
7. Direct the development and application of advanced economic methodologies to quantify social, environmental, and economic impacts
8. Critically evaluate data analysis, financial models, and cost-benefit assessments to inform robust evidence-based recommendations
9. Serve as a trusted advisory on issues of economic viability, policy design, and programme effectiveness
Team Leadership & Development
10. Manage and mentor junior staff, providing guidance on technical analysis, project management, and professional development
11. Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that encourages innovation, personal growth, and high performance
12. Build capability within the team by identifying skill gaps, shaping recruitment needs, and promoting ongoing learning

13. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sustainability specialists, data analysts, and project managers, to enhance service offerings
14. Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks to support business development and client relationship management
15. Represent PwC at external forums, industry events, and client engagements, building brand awareness and market presence

Qualifications & Certifications
18. An advanced degree or qualification in Economics, Environmental Economics, or a related field
Skills & Experience Required
Essential skills
19. Typically, 10+ years of experience in economic analysis, impact assessment, or related consultancy work
20. Proven track record in a leadership or management role, with the ability to guide teams and manage multiple stakeholder relationships
21. Advanced knowledge of economic methods, statistical analysis, financial modelling, and cost-benefit analysis
22. Ability to design and critique robust economic frameworks to assess complex sustainability and impact scenarios
23. Demonstrated success in shaping and delivering strategic client engagements, including scoping, budgeting, and risk management
24. Strong commercial awareness to identify new business opportunities and drive sustainable growth within a practice area
25. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex economic concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
26. Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders, delivering impactful presentations and facilitating high-level discussions
27. Experience in leading, motivating, and mentoring project teams, including setting performance objectives and providing constructive feedback

29. Strong organisational skills, adept at balancing multiple engagements under tight deadlines
30. Rigor in project planning, tracking, and reporting to ensure timely, high-quality outputs

32. Openness to exploring emerging technologies to enhance economic modelling and sustainability analysis
Desirable skills
33. Experience with specific sustainability and impact areas (e.g. climate change, biodiversity, social equity), as well as familiarity with relevant regulations and standards
34. Understanding of public policy frameworks and best practices in sustainable development
35. Prior experience in economics-focussed consultancy, industry, or government roles, ideally with a focus on sustainability or impact measurement
