Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week. Your working days are normally 5 days a week but can be flexible and agreed on appointment.
What will I be doing?
Working within the Waste, Neighbourhood Enforcement and Street Scene service area you'll be the Client Officer and relationship manager for the Council's wholly owned waste collection and disposal service provider, Bristol Waste Company.
As part of this, you will have responsibility for managing the £35M Integrated Waste Management contract and £11M West of England contract, which will require effective contract management so that services delivered provide value for money and mitigate risks and liabilities to the Council as well as providing excellent services for residents, businesses and visitors. You will support the development of procurement requirements and provide technical insight and advice to a range of stakeholders within the Council and its partners.
What do I need to have?
You will be an experienced waste manager with a detailed knowledge of local authority waste collection, treatment, and disposal services. A confident communicator, you will have previously advised Directors, Cabinet Members, and other decision-makers on complex matters that affect waste services. Strong working relationships are at the heart of this role, and you'll understand the importance of partnerships and relationship development within client management.
Through previous roles, you'll have experience of procuring waste management contracts and implementing and using performance management tools to drive service improvements. You'll be up to date with the fast-moving policy environment using professional links with/membership of organisations such as the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and will understand the potential implications of policy changes for local government services.
