This is a demanding role that requires dedication and a positive attitude towards change. With emergency care ever-changing and evolving, this is an exciting opportunity to provide new and innovative health care services to our patients and to help develop the department for the future of emergency services within our Trust.
The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing, and controlling the activities of a unit in an effective and efficient manner. You will be a clinical role model and have a willingness to develop the team as well as your own professional growth. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. There will be the opportunity to work cross-site.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work closely with the Band 7 Senior nursing team. You will be required to develop strong links with all members of the MDT and assessment areas and ensure that patient care is of the highest standard possible. In conjunction with the ward/department manager, you will oversee the day-to-day supervision of your ward/department/team, effectively motivating and directing staff to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork. You will ensure that staff have a clear knowledge of their duties and be accountable for the standards of performance and conduct expected of them during their span of duty.
Working for your organisation
The department has recently undergone a refurbishment which consists of an extension to our majors area, ARA (the area for ambulance arrivals), and a dedicated paediatric area along with a Urgent Treatment Centre for minors and GP stream. Our workforce is growing, and our recruitment is very successful. This is a very exciting time to join our ED with opportunities to develop with formal Royal College Nursing - Emergency Nurse Competency based assessments with accreditation supporting all nurses to work in majors, minors, resus, paediatrics, and mental health. Our Professional Education Facilitators will guide you through the robust training program and link in with your Band 7 clinical team leader. We hold ED study days led by the ED team, teaching skills and knowledge in line with the Royal College of Nursing competency framework.
