Housing Officer for Refugees Location: Shrivenham, Oxfordshire Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term Salary: £28,000 - £31,000pa depending on experience About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Housing Officer to join our team in Oxfordshire. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing housing support and resettlement services to refugees who have been granted leave to remain in the UK. Key Responsibilities: Property Management: Sourcing and securing suitable accommodation for refugees, including private rented sector properties and temporary housing. Tenancy Support: Conducting pre-tenancy assessments, providing tenancy sustainment support, and advising on housing rights and responsibilities. Resettlement Assistance: Assisting refugees with settling into their new homes and communities, including accessing essential services, registering with GPs, and enrolling children in school. Partnership Working: Liaising with local authorities, landlords, and other agencies to ensure effective coordination of support services. Casework Management: Maintaining accurate records, managing caseloads, and providing regular reports. Cultural Awareness: Demonstrating sensitivity to the needs and experiences of refugees from diverse backgrounds. Essential Criteria: Experience in housing management or a related field. Knowledge of the UK housing system and relevant legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. A commitment to supporting vulnerable people.
