Job summary An exciting opportunity has been created at LNWUHT for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician to work closely with the Medication Safety Officer & Governance Support Pharmacist. The post holder must have a keen interest in medication safety, good communication skills with strong attention to detail. The post holder will support and lead on key medication safety workstreams to continuously improve the Governance and Medication Safety agenda across the organisation. The post holder will champion on promoting the safe use of medicines, supporting the investigation, and learning from medication related incidents and sharing good practice. The post holder will be involved in audits and teaching of medicines safety. Main duties of the job Work alongside the Medication Safety Officer & Governance Support Pharmacist to lead the Medicines Safety agenda for the Trust, both local and national medication safety initiatives. Identify, promote and improve the safe use of medicines across the organisation. Work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to promote reporting and prompt investigations of medication incidents. Review medication incidents reported to ensure correct completion of data fields to improve the quality of reports and identify trends or themes. Assist in investigation of incidents, Serious Incidents and Never Events reported in the Trust. Help with sharing learning from medication incidents across the trust and implement system changes to improve medication safety. Assist in the coordination and completion of audits and corresponding action plans and monitoring compliance to agreed actions. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings. Assist with completing actions from national medication related Patient Safety Alerts.
