Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Coventry
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Working Conditions: 2 x days working from home. Must be a driver - to travel to local sites.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide agile and flexible technical support across the breadth of the business, working closely with the technical team on product development and the commercial team on management of material supply, sourcing, and suppliers to ensure compliance with legal, quality, safety, environmental, and ethical requirements standards.
The Technical Manager will work closely with operations to ensure appropriate QC set up and processes within factories ensuring the best quality product is shipped to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide agile and flexible technical support to the technical, commercial, and operations teams in accordance with prioritized business needs.
2. Conduct product evaluation and approval working with the technical team, including risk assessment and benchmarking processes to ensure compliance.
3. Address all non-compliance issues effectively and take appropriate remedial action through direct contact with suppliers prior to product approval.
4. Collaborate with Operations to ensure QC set up in each factory is fit for purpose, measuring and monitoring manufactured product quality standards to meet customer service levels.
5. Carry out supplier evaluations and approvals as appropriate, ensuring non-compliance issues are addressed and improvements are identified with timely reporting.
6. Investigate and report on technical queries and quality concerns related to product returns, critical product failures, and customer complaints, identifying remedial actions and cost implications.
7. Identify opportunities for profit improvement through collaboration with Technical, Commercial, and Operations teams, utilizing knowledge of product specifications and supplier capabilities.
8. Ensure accuracy of product certification and specification data for products and those provided by suppliers, maintaining technical files to the required level of detail.
Person Specification:
1. In-depth knowledge of QA and responsible sourcing practices and methodology.
2. At least 5 years related experience, some within manufacturing.
3. A proven track record in delivering improvements in Quality Assurance and Responsible Sourcing in a commercial environment.
4. Experience in performance reporting, analytics, and process development.
5. Practical experience of Supplier, Factory, and CSR (Ethical) audits.
6. Delivery of commercial benefit and Customer proposition development.
7. Working knowledge of British & European product safety, legal & technical standards and associated compliance certification/conformance.
8. Highly analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong stakeholder management abilities.
10. Excellent internal & external communication skills with the ability to promote change.
11. Commercial thinking.
