We have a fantastic opportunity at our Newry Campus for an experienced and interactive Teaching Assistant to join the team on a part time (Mon-Fri 8am-2pm) per week, fixed term basis for 1 year (with possible extension).
Key responsibilities:
* To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil to whom you are assigned
* To work towards pupil individualised targets as set out within the Statement, in liaison with the class teacher and LSCO
* This 1:1 role is to support a child with a Statement of Special Educational Needs with complex physical / medical needs This role will consist of a Personal Care Support involving intermittent Catheterisation
* Provide support for all activities of daily living including eating and drinking
* Promote inclusion in the classroom and create differentiated resources as required
* Assess, manage and deliver learning support using knowledge and specialist skills
* To work with other pupils within the class, understanding how to motivate and encourage them to achieve and develop through the development of their attributes, skills and knowledge

* Act as a Key Worker for this pupil, regularly liaising with parents and staff to ensure progress against Learning Plan targets
* Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage in all activities through support of their Attributes, Skills and Knowledge
* Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence
* To be familiar with the school curriculum, the age-related expectations for pupils and main teaching methods for age ranges in which you are involved
You will:
* Have experience of working with children with complex learning needs
* Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant or a similar role
* Have experience working with children of relevant age in a learning environment and planning and delivering interventions
* Have an understanding of statutory frameworks relating to teaching and learning
* Education to at least National 5, Standard Grade Level or equivalent
* Have the ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
* Ensure high standards are maintained, progressed and promoted in all areas of work
* Uphold and promulgate the OneSchool Global UK ethos within all areas of responsibility
