Job Role: Assistant Buyer
Location: South Yorkshire
Salary: £25,000/£35,000 + Package
Our client has a great opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join their team at their South Yorkshire office. As Assistant Buyer, you will ensure the efficient running of the material purchasing function and liaise with other departments to ensure financial control of all materials & plant purchased for building operations throughout the Yorkshire region. This must be within full compliance of the Best Practice procedures and the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure efficient running of the material purchasing function.
2. Liaise with other departments for financial control of materials & plant.
3. Comply with Best Practice procedures and Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Experience working for a contractor in a buying capacity (construction/civils).
2. Good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
3. Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
4. Strong mathematical and IT ability; good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
5. Ability to assess and analyze information.
6. Good commercial sense and understanding of budget management.
7. Negotiating and networking skills.
8. Excellent communication skills.
9. Able to work under pressure and accept criticism of work.
10. Good team working skills.
11. Accurate with an eye for detail.
12. Willingness to go above and beyond to meet deadlines as needed.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Degree in Construction or similar, or HNC / ONC in Construction or similar.
2. Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, or working towards full membership.
3. Working towards being a chartered member of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).
4. Experience of COINS.
