The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children with complex behavioural needs, working closely with teachers and other staff members. You will provide tailored support to students on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop their social and emotional skills. You will be an essential part of the school team, ensuring that all children feel safe, supported, and valued in their learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex behavioural needs.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
* Support students in managing their behaviour using appropriate strategies and interventions.
* Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment that encourages students’ emotional and social development.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to deliver an individualized curriculum.
* Help students with personal care needs where appropriate.
* Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents as required.
* Attend meetings, training, and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Key Requirements:
* Experience working with children with complex behavioural needs (preferred but not essential).
* A strong understanding of the challenges and needs of students with behavioural difficulties.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
* The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) is desirable.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
