Mental Health Nurse - Eating Disorder Unit

The salary for this permanent Mental Health Nurse job is £34,500 - £37,227 per annum.
About our client:
You will be joining a tranquil environment offering residential treatment for patients suffering from mental health conditions. You will be supporting males and females with mental health needs.
Main Duties:
1. Provide Individualised Care: Deliver care tailored to each patient's needs and preferences, regularly updating care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
2. Collaborate with the Care Team: Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
3. Communicate Professionally: Build strong relationships with external professionals and stakeholders, and engage effectively with patients.
4. Patient Interaction: Observe, communicate with, and assess residents or service users to evaluate their progress and needs.
5. Quality and Governance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical governance standards.
6. Provide Clear Information: Offer accessible and accurate information about care to patients and their families.
7. Manage and Delegate Tasks: Prioritise and delegate nursing duties within the shift, ensuring a safe environment. Assume the role of nurse in charge as needed.
8. Maintain Records: Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes and incident reports.
9. Escalate Concerns: Address and report concerns about patient well-being, incidents, or staffing issues promptly.
10. Pursue Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning to meet revalidation requirements and stay current in practice.
11. Support and Mentor Staff: Assist new, junior, and agency staff, ensuring they adhere to care standards and complete their induction.
12. Complete Training: Fulfil all mandatory training and competency assessments on time.
13. Build Relationships: Maintain positive interactions with residents, colleagues, and visitors, addressing their needs and concerns.
14. Participate in Supervision: Engage in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
15. Safeguarding: Be aware of and follow safeguarding policies and procedures, attending required training.
16. Follow Legislation: Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
17. Adhere to Medicines Policies: Follow company policies on medicines management.
18. Manage Challenging Behaviour: Handle challenging behaviour according to company policies, support junior staff, and develop de-escalation strategies.
Requirements of the Mental Health Nurse:
1. Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse: Qualified with 6-12 months of post-registration experience, active NMC registration, and completion of preceptorship or an equivalent programme.
2. Understanding of NMC Standards: Knowledgeable about NMC standards, guidelines, and professional practices.
3. Ongoing Professional Development: Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development since registration.
4. Commitment to Improvement: Shows a positive attitude with a strong commitment to change, quality improvement, and excellence in practice.
5. Adaptability and Innovation: Capable of developing and employing flexible, innovative approaches to clinical practice.
6. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
7. IT Proficiency: Competent in using IT systems and software.
