Highways Design Engineer - Part Time - 24 FTC

Prosper Recruitment are working in partnership with a Tier 1 Contractor who are looking to employ a confident and motivated Highways Design Engineer for a part time, 24 month fixed term contract. You will be part of the Highways Design Team working for a multi-disciplinary design consultancy including Civil, Structures, Infrastructure and Build, and to work on contracts in the North East Lincolnshire region.
Hours of work will be 18 hours per week with an annual salary of £18k - £21k for the 18 hours worked per week - Immediate start.
The successful candidate will be dealing with a variety of infrastructure projects including highway maintenance to large capital civil and structural projects. Examples of previous projects have included a number of multimillion regeneration schemes within North East Lincolnshire enhancing the public realm, and delivery of new trunk roads and industrial estate access roads to promote business development in the area.
You will join an expanding team of engineers, technicians, apprentices and site support staff. Enthusiastic and dedicated, you will have demonstrable experience in design and management of highway projects, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver highway designs through AutoCAD & associated design packages including Key Line & Key Sign.
2. Attend Consultation events.
3. Prepare tender packages including drawings, bills of quantities, specifications and Pre-Construction Health & Safety Plans.
4. Prepare cost estimates for client budgeting purposes.
5. Ensure all designs are in accordance with current design standards.
6. Undertake site supervision of highway and infrastructure projects.
7. Be involved in project management and technical delivery of projects from inception through to completion.
8. Ensure all designs are CDM 2015 compliant.
9. Manage and co-ordinate personal workload to achieve project deliverables within the agreed time, quality and financial objectives.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Essential:
1. Qualified to HND/C level or equivalent.
2. A demonstrable track record in the Highways and Transportation industry.
3. Ability to work on own initiative with limited management.
4. A knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets.
5. Knowledge and understanding of DMRB design standards.
6. Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, experience of CDM Regulations 2015.
7. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Key Signs & Key Lines.
Desirable:
1. Ability to communicate confidently and clearly both verbally and in writing, and conduct effective negotiations with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties.
2. Experience of delivery works for local authorities.
3. Relevant post HND/C qualification experience.
4. Knowledge and experience of producing geometric highway designs using AutoCAD Civil3D.
