MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for an interim ALM Manager to support with Hedge Management within the Market Risk Team.
About the role
Working within the Governance, Risk and Control programme, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the transformation of hedge management, including mortgage pipeline monitoring and assessment of structural positions and behavioural assumptions.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for delivering key aspects of the hedge management project, collaborating with colleagues across the Market Risk team, wider Finance function, and trading.
You will evaluate and document requirements, deliver management information, and make recommendations to support strategic change in market risk management. This role has no line management responsibility but requires significant engagement with others.
As a reporting specialist with a working knowledge of hedge management, you'll be joining an established team to support the delivery of improvements to the risk management framework.
This role would ideally suit someone with a strong risk reporting background who is looking to build on that knowledge into a specialist area of hedge management. A strong understanding of the balance sheet, corporate structure, and data and reporting landscape are key to success in the role.
In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.
Our ideal candidate:
* In-depth knowledge of financial services and understanding of managing banking book interest rate risk within a retail finance institution.
* Familiarity with the banking book and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management.
* Understanding of net interest margin for financial products and the factors impacting it.
* Knowledge of key behavioural assumptions impacting market risk for mortgages and savings.
* Past experience of developing proposals in a technical financial risk field for a wide audience.
* Examples of delivering change within tight deadlines and having stakeholder engagement through the journey.
* Excellent attention to detail, a pro-active attitude, and a continuous improvement mindset.
* Effective communication, engagement, and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to understand, define, and articulate business requirements.
* A willingness to help others learn and develop, providing thought leadership and encouraging best practices.
While this is a specialist role, we are open to discussions with candidates with transferable skills, such as a high level of numeracy and logical reasoning, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a general audience.
Applicants must be located and eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
