The CAMHS Urgent Care Teams, incorporating Crisis, Home Treatment and Liaison pathways, are welcoming, friendly and dedicated to ensuring that young people in a mental health crisis get access to the right support in the right place at the right time.
We are a 24/7 service. Our team works Long Days of 8am - 8pm and Nights of 8pm - 8am.
Main duties of the job
As a CAMHS Urgent Care Practitioner, you will:
1. Work as part of an MDT to assess, formulate and support young people and their families when they are in a crisis situation and require access to mental health support. This may be in the community or in one of the acute hospitals.
2. Offer targeted follow-up interventions in a range of therapeutic modalities and training will be provided to help staff continue to build their careers.
3. Manage mental health risk and work with the network around the young person to ensure safety and wellbeing.

Job responsibilities
The CAMHS Urgent Care Teams, incorporating Crisis, Home Treatment and Liaison pathways, are dedicated to ensuring that young people in a mental health crisis get access to the right support in the right place at the right time.
1. Observe and adhere to the CAMHS Service Specification, vision, aims and objectives.
2. Offer clinical assessment and evidence-based intervention whilst observing current best practice, legislation and guidance.
3. Work within Children and Young Peoples Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) frameworks and principles.
4. Contribute to a shared team caseload whilst considering and adhering to safeguarding policy and procedure and national and local legislation.
5. Offer support and supervision to junior colleagues and receive regular Clinical and Operational supervision to maintain practice.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is preferred for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified RMN, RNLD, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
* Registration with relevant professional body
* Evidence of post-registration learning and development.
* Additional relevant postgraduate training.
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of theories and factors which contribute to the development of Children & Young Person's Mental Health Difficulties.
* Ability to maintain accurate case records in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* Be committed to anti-discriminatory/ anti-oppressive practice and equal opportunity in regard to patient care and team practice.
* Knowledge of current policies, strategies and key indicators for the future development of Child Mental Health Services.

Experience
* Experience of caseload management
* Relevant post-registration experience in CAMHS, Acute Mental Health, Crisis Team, Liaison Psychiatry.
* Experience of Multidisciplinary and multi-agency working
* Competency in completing comprehensive mental health assessment and assessment of risk.
* Experience in the development of robust care plans and risk management plans.
* Understanding of responsibilities in relation to Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, CPA & Safeguarding.
* Experience of crisis management
* Experience of coordinating day-to-day clinical activity, applying appropriate clinical decision making, triage and priority weighting.
* Experience of working in a community-based mental health team.
Contractual agreement
