Main duties of the Occupational Therapist:
* Working closely with a highly skilled MDT, completing both single and joint sessions with a wide range of stroke patients in an acute inpatient setting.
* Conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments with acute stroke patients, formulate and deliver individual treatment plans, skilled patient handling, identify appropriate discharge options and co-ordinate safe discharges, recommending and prescribing adaptive equipment and aids.
* Clear compassionate communication with patients, effective communication, and collaboration with members of the MDT, accurate and concise documentation in medical notes and onward referrals.
* Ability to manage a dynamic and often high-volume caseload, prioritising patients based on clinical needs.
* Ethical and Professional Practice; upholding patient autonomy, respecting diversity and maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
* Recent UK experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
* Recent NHS experience.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Minimum 12 months of NHS experience in an acute stroke/neuro setting.
* Evidence of relevant stroke/neuro specific training.
* Understanding of strokes as a condition, specifically acute stroke.
