Our vibrant Westway service in Throckley (NE15) is expanding, and we need dedicated Support Workers to join our close-knit team About the Role: You'll be empowering five individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges to live fulfilling, independent lives in their own homes. This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and create lasting positive change. What we’re looking for: Flexible – need to be responsive to covering the service as needed Patient and Calm – there is a lot of chatter throughout the day, the person being supported can talk from waking up to going to bed and needs staff who can cope with that level of chatter, repetitive chatter, asking questions and needing certain responses etc. Good listening and communication skills- Firm, but not abrasive with language and support style Knowledge and understanding of Autism and ADHD Active – is able to go for long walks, swimming, days out, Yoga, Meditation, music etc. Good organisational skills, able to problem solve Driver – she is dropped off and picked up from College in Sunderland Wednesday-Friday Able to do sleep-ins, Shifts are either 10am-9pm, sleep in 9pm-7am, 7am-10am Your Impact/ Duties: Provide daily support, structure, and encouragement, fostering independence. Assist with household tasks, personal care, and medication administration (where required). Facilitate community engagement and activities Drive our mobility vehicle (Driver essential). Support a resident who enjoys consistent conversation, requiring patience and active listening.
