About the client
Our client, a well-established legal firm, is looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in a high-volume, transactional accounts role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
About the Role:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of financial transactions within the business. You'll work alongside a supportive and busy team, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner. The position offers hybrid working arrangements, providing flexibility to balance work and personal life while staying connected with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform daily bank reconciliation.
2. Prepare timely and accurate weekly and monthly reconciliations for Client and Firm bank accounts, credit cards, and control accounts.
3. Run compliance reports and ensure adherence to Scottish Solicitors' and Solicitors' Regulatory Authority Accounts Rules, understanding client and office money handling requirements.
4. Reconcile the firm's bank charges, investigating anomalies.
5. Handle partner monthly drawings and quarterly distribution payments.
6. Participate in month-end closing processes, with flexibility for different period requirements (standard, quarter-end, year-end).
7. Assist with general accounting duties and support the wider finance team as required.

You are someone with a strong background in a highly transactional accounts role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Accuracy and attention to detail are key to your success, and you take pride in ensuring all financial data is processed with precision. You thrive in a collaborative team environment, and your communication skills allow you to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. You are proactive, adaptable, and able to take initiative when it comes to resolving issues and supporting the finance team.
