We are looking to appoint cover supervisors to take responsibility for groups and classes in the senior school to cover the short-term absence of the designated teacher. These are term-time only positions, covering up to 8 periods a day, plus one duty.
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing classrooms to supervise and direct pupils to complete work that has been set.
2. Supporting positive pupil engagement and pupil conduct while they are undertaking this work.
3. Taking the class register, and assisting with the follow up of pupils who are unaccounted for at morning and afternoon registrations.
4. Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
5. Liaising with the pastoral team about urgent pastoral or safeguarding concerns when required.
6. Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
7. Reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.
8. Being on supervision duty over breaktime and lunchtime, as required, to monitor and ensure safe behaviour in designated play and social spaces.
9. Undertaking other supervisory duties around the school and provide assistance with other general duties when required.
Person specification:
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Flexibility and enthusiasm, and an ability to take the initiative as required.
3. Motivated to work with children and young people.
4. Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care and safeguarding for all pupils.
5. Experience of working with or caring for children.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Start date: 26 August 2025
Salary: £19,357 per annum
Monday to Friday: 08:40 to 16:10 term time only. (includes half an hour for provided lunch)
25 working days’ annual paid holiday plus statutory English public holidays (pro rata) – personal holiday can only be taken during the normal school holidays.
