Join QBuild for an exciting career opportunity as a Principal Workplace Health and Safety Advisor where you'll provide high-level service and advice on WH&S activities and environmental matters across the building, construction, and maintenance within QBuild.
QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry. The Principal Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor for Fleet and Safety, QBuild will provide a centralised service to oversee and strategically manage QBuild's fleet, with consideration to Queensland's Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy 2022-32.
The primary purpose of the position is to maintain high standards in fleet management, road safety practices and to ensure a comprehensive safety approach across QBuild's extensive range of vehicles. This includes ensuring compliance with QBuild's Safety Management System, QFleet policies and strategies, WHS legislation and codes of practice associated with all vehicles used across QBuild.
This role will ensure best practice safe vehicle management, the implementation of proactive training and WHS and Environment (WHS&E) management programs, auditing, reporting and investigating incidents, and the monitoring of compliance and implementation of any corrective actions.
Duties and skills involved:
* Demonstrated experience providing advice in WHS legislative compliance requirements, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards/International Standards.
* Demonstrated strong knowledge of industry, or similar industry, and the related controls and strategies for elimination of risk.
* Demonstrated experience in the effective development and delivery of programs and improvement initiatives.
* While not essential, it would be considered as highly favourable to have demonstrated experience in fleet management.
* While not mandatory, WHS&E experience in construction, maintenance or similar industry is highly desirable.
* While not mandatory, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and qualifications in WHS are highly desirable.
