Are you a resilient and passionate Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, or Support Worker with experience working with young people facing extreme challenges?
We are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Enfield, supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs) and highly challenging behaviours. Many of our students have been involved in knife crime, gang-related activities, or other serious social difficulties, and this role is critical in guiding them towards a more positive future.
The Role of the Behaviour Teaching Assistant:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students manage their emotions and behaviour.
* Set firm boundaries while building trust and strong relationships with students.
* Act as a positive role model, encouraging engagement in education and personal development.
* De-escalate challenging situations and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to support student progress.
The Ideal Candidate for the Behaviour Teaching Assistant Role:
* Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, SEMH TA, Youth Worker, or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of SEMH needs, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour management techniques.
Incredibly confident, able to set clear expectations while showing empathy and patience.
Experience working with young people involved in gangs, knife crime, or at risk of exclusion.
* Passionate about helping vulnerable young people turn their lives around.
