Job overview
Here is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Front door and Frailty therapy team, as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist.
You will work as part of a proactive and enthusiastic integrated team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy assistants working in the Front door emergency, ambulatory and acute ward areas. You will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and management, using evidence-based patient centered care, working with other members of the MDT. Promoting independence and planning for safe and timely discharge are key parts of this role.
You will provide leadership, training and supervision to less experienced staff, students, and non-qualified staff.
The working pattern for this role will include rostered weekends as part of 7 day working, with off duty days in the week.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide and develop a high standard of Occupational Therapy services in the Front door and Frailty specialties, using standard and non-standard Occupational Therapy assessments, and evidence-based principles.
2. Work closely and in an integrated manner with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to promote independence and to facilitate safe, timely and appropriate discharge.
3. Contribute to the overall service development of the team and therapy service, working with senior team members, professional leads, and Head of Therapies.
4. Manage and supervise the development of staff members within the team.

2. Manage a caseload of patients independently, balancing clinical and non-clinical duties in a flexible and responsive manner.
3. Provide standard and non-standard Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions, and advice using evidence-based, patient-centered principles.
4. Work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to promote independence and to facilitate safe, timely and appropriate discharge.
5. Contribute to clinical audit and service development, working with senior team members, professional leads, and Head of Therapies.
6. Manage, supervise and develop staff members within the team and wider therapies services.
7. Be a role model for other Occupational Therapists, demonstrating the Trust values.
Person specification
Education
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
Experience
* Experience of working in an acute NHS setting or similar fast-paced healthcare setting
* Experience of working with older adults
* Experience of MDT working
* Experience working in a hospital ambulatory area
* Post-qualifying experience working in different specialties as a junior/senior OT
* Experience supervising junior members of staff
* Experience working on a frailty unit/ward
* Experience working in A&E/emergency department
