Overview:
We are seeking two dedicated and experienced Community Cafe Managers to join our team and help with the setup and continuous management of our new community cafe. This role involves overseeing daily operations, preparing & serving food, managing volunteers, and fostering relationships within the community hub. The manager will work alongside another manager & volunteers, splitting shifts, including weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cafe Setup:
- Assist in the setup of the cafe, including layout, equipment procurement, and initial staffing.
- Develop operational procedures and policies for the cafe.
2. Daily Management:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Manage stock levels and place orders as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
3. Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers.
- Create and manage volunteer schedules.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
4. Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Manage and support community groups and events hosted in the cafe.
- Implement initiatives to engage the local community.
5. Customer Service:
- Ensure high standards of customer service.
- Address customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
6. Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage the cafe’s budget and finances.
- Track sales, manage cash handling, and perform regular financial reporting.
7. Collaborative Working:
- Work collaboratively with the co-manager to ensure consistency and continuity in cafe operations.
- Share responsibilities and cover shifts as required.

- Proven experience in a management role within a cafe or similar environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Passion for community engagement and volunteerism.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Salary and Hours:
- Salary: £22,000-£24,000 p/a pro rata (depending on experience)
- Hours: Part Time or Full-time, with a requirement to work weekends and share shifts with the co-manager.
