Based at Motherwell Civic Complex, you will provide field support across all council sites, dealing with a wide range of technical problems and issues. You will support the council to meet the needs of its internal customers utilizing IT solutions that make the best use of technology to provide efficient, secure, and effective services. You will be part of the Telecoms Team within the Infrastructure Section, predominantly working with Cisco technologies.
You will support the delivery of a wide range of ICT infrastructure support and development services, assisting with the implementation and maintenance of an effective and secure ICT Infrastructure which supports the delivery of council services and priorities. Working in collaboration with the infrastructure teams, you will provide a wide range of ICT services to our clients, including the delivery of projects, with the expectation to organize your workload to meet the objectives of the service level agreement and communicate service issues according to procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
1. You should have an SVQ3, HNC, or equivalent in an ICT-related subject. Accreditations or training in ICT Technology subjects, such as Cisco CCNA, is desirable.
2. You should have extended experience in Data Cabling design and standards with experience in an ICT infrastructure support role and be able to demonstrate experience and capability of interpreting and defining customer requirements.
3. You should have good knowledge and technical understanding of ICT infrastructure technologies, particularly for Cisco Networking, Switching & Routing Technologies, and Cisco Voice and Wireless.
4. As a developing IT Professional, you will be able to demonstrate technical analytical and problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and organized, and be able to work to targets and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good verbal and written communication skills are also essential.
5. Demonstrable knowledge of Cyber security practices and standards is desirable as is experience of project work.
Additional Requirements:
1. You will require to become a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to starting in this post.
2. You must hold a current UK driving licence to apply for this role.
3. This position is temporary until 30th June 2026.
Working Pattern:
Monday - Thursday: 8:45am - 4:45pm (including a 55-minute unpaid break)
Friday: 8:45am - 4:15pm (including a 50-minute unpaid break)
