Job Advert Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Bury. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. Currently we are supporting a young Gent who is living in our Bury service with another gentlemen whilst he awaits a forever home of his own to become ready for him to move into so this is an exciting time to come on board with us to help this gentlemen start the next chapter in his life. When it comes to his hobbies and interests he loves singing and dancing and Acting out as one of the judges on Britain's got talent. He loves Emmerdale, deal or no deal, countdown, and especially loves DR WHO so if there are any Tardis fans out there then you are onto a winner with him. As he has spent majority of his adult life living at home with his parents he is finding it hard to access and be part of his local community. We are working in partnership with him to support him to explore meaningful activities that he enjoys. When it comes to communicating his needs, there are times where he can struggle with this and can cause him to demonstrate behaviours that would be considered as challenging, however we have a specialist team of PBS coaches and practitioners that will comprehensively support staff with all the training that is needed in order for you to meet this gentlemen's needs. As this Gentleman is in the process of transitioning into supported living you will need persistence, kindness and patience to ensure that his needs are met and that he is in the best position to move forward into his forever home and equip him with his new found skills and confidence to live a fulfilled life. What we're looking for: From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in his life, we are looking for people who can demonstrate: · A genuine passion for supporting others. · Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships. · Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. · A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities. Contract options: · Full-time:37.5 hrs · Part time hours 15 · Part-time: flexible hours based on availability Shift times: All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life · Days: Between 07:00-22:00 and sleep in · Waking Nights: 22:00-07:00 There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45.
