Nottingham is a bold, vibrant, and exciting Core City, at the heart of the UK – alive with potential and ambition – though not one without its challenges. However, Nottingham City Council has faced up to these significant challenges. We’re approaching the future with courage, energy, and a clear plan to put things right for the people of Nottingham. Our vision is of a bold transformation to deliver meaningful change for our residents, and we’re determined to get there.
We’ve made a promising start, with the Commissioners’ report last summer recognising our substantial progress. Our new Chief Executive has fostered a unified, dynamic approach to transformation, allowing us to pick up the pace still further. We’ve come a long way, but know that there is more to do, which is why we’re recruiting a cohort of new senior leaders who will accelerate our momentum, and ensure we achieve our ambitious vision at even greater pace.
Working closely with our Chief Executive, this role will enable you to play a pivotal role in creating and driving a far-reaching strategic vision across the Policy, Performance and Communications division, the Council and the wider city. Engaging with partners, stakeholders, colleagues and citizens alike, you’ll take responsibility for the successful delivery of our ambitious plans. Able to manage high-level relationships with members, senior executive colleagues and central government, you’ll quickly establish a reputation as the go-to person for energy, resilience and momentum.
Candidates must have extensive senior leadership experience, and an impressive track record of generating and delivering inspiring visions for the future of their organisations. Your professional skillset – people management, budgets and finance, planning and programme management – must be exceptional, and we’re additionally seeking evidence that you can build and leverage powerful networks of purpose, as well as quickly mastering a comprehensive qual/quant analysis of our progress so far, and areas for improvement.
